Open Access Policy

Fostering Community Discovery

This dataset is a foundational open-access resource designed to empower the global neuroscience community. Independent researchers are encouraged to proofread, analyze, and publish findings derived from this data.

Publication and Authorship

We aim to support independent research while ensuring the long-term sustainability of this project. Our policy follows an open-access model:

  • Independent Discovery: You are free to publish your findings independently.
  • Authorship: We do not require co-authorship by the original dataset authors for independent discoveries.
  • Citation: Any work utilizing this resource must cite the primary resource paper:

Collaborative Coordination

To facilitate large-scale reconstruction while preventing redundant efforts, we leverage the built-in transparency of the Connectome Annotation Versioning Engine (CAVE). Every manual edit is permanently recorded in a public changelog and attributed to the contributing user.

This system ensures that all manual refinements are visible, traceable, and properly credited to those who performed them.

We encourage all users to follow these collaborative guidelines:

  • Review Reconstruction History: Utilize the CAVE changelog to identify existing work or refinements in your circuits of interest.
  • Coordinate Efforts: If you identify overlapping efforts, contact previous contributors directly to sync data or establish formal collaborations.
  • Credit Contributions: We ask that researchers acknowledge significant proofreading contributions made by other community members when those refinements are central to their independent findings.
